Fundraising for Kids Cancer Research with Spin to Win Wheel

Franchisees in our Southern Ontario market (Eastgate Mall + Lyndon Park Mall) had a blast fundraising for the National Kids Cancer ride using a New York Fries "Spin to Win" wheel. Customers donated a loonie or more to help support children's oncology centres for an opportunity to spin the wheel.  Wheel prizes included free fries, hot dogs and poutine as well as free gravy, 2 for 1 fries and free drinks. Congratulations to our franchisees and front line staff for doing an excellent job and for raising over $100 for kids cancer research one loonie at a time!

Thank you's and stories from the National Kids Cancer Ride

The riders are doing a fantastic job pedaling through Canada, and are motivated by strength of the children who are fighting cancer and the people who come out to support them at community events. Here are some clips of the riders speaking about their personal stories and cancer survivors addressing the crowds about the impact of the ride on children living with and beyond cancer.

National Kids Cancer Ride Kicks off in BC - NYF sponsors Kid Zone!

On September 9th at 8 am (Pacific Time), 40 National bike riders dipped their bikes in the Pacific Ocean to symbolize the beginning of their cross country ride in support of fundraising towards research in pediatric oncology. Supporting this cause for our 3rd year in a row, New York Fries is proud to associate with this amazing event. As the riders venture across the country, they will be refueled and re-energized at many community events; many of which are held outside of Sears stores in shopping centres along their route. This year, New York Fries is proud to sponsor an area of inflatable bouncy castles - the Kid Zone - for everyone to enjoy. For a list of community event locations and dates, click here.  All NYF stores are collecting change in donation boxes, with 100% of the monies collected going directly to the 17 oncology hospitals across Canada.

Prince George team fundraises for the BC SPCA

The New York Fries team in Prince George, B.C., "barked" at the opportunity to help raise money towards the local SPCA. In conjunction with their Pine Centre mall, the team decorated their store area with potato-dogs and drove customers to their counter with their Spin to Win wheel. With each donation made to the SPCA, customers were able to spin the wheel to win free food from New York Fries. Their efforts were rewarded with many happy customers, a glowing write up in the mall newsletter, and a $225 donation towards the SPCA. Great job Prince George team. That's what we call a win-win-win!

NYF Calgary teams up with Stampeders high school basketball program!

For more than two decades, the Calgary Stampeders have been dropping by school gymnasiums in and around the city to play a little basketball against student teams.

The proud tradition continues in 2010, as members of the Red and White show off their athletic versatility. New York Fries has been a long time supporter of the Stampeders and their community initiatives. Thanks to our franchisee, Brian deHaan, for getting us involved in the Stampeders Basketball program. Ecstatic student from Dartmouth wins one of 3 bikes, donated by franchisee to support the National Kids Cancer Ride

Our franchisee in Dartmouth and Halifax, David Findlay and his store manager, Jeff Hibbarts, went full force supporting the National Kids Cancer Ride across Halifax. They began by purchasing three bikes, one for each of their 2 locations as a prize for an in store draw, and the third was donated to the children at the Oncology Hospital in Halifax for their enjoyment in their on-site playground. They contacted suppliers to donate prizes for gift baskets and held a raffle at a local Dartmouth school to help fundraise even more. In total, all their efforts raised almost $1000 from their customers, and then, displaying true generosity and compassion, added to the total with a $500 personal donation. Pictured here is the winner of the bike from Mic Mac Mall posing with Manager Jeff Hibbarts and her new bike at her school.
