Is New York Fries Canadian?
Yes! Despite our brand name, New York Fries is Canadian and has been since 1987.
Why is it called New York Fries if it is a Canadian Brand?
The original New York Fries was located in New York City’s South Street Seaport at Pier 17. Our Canadian founder tasted these fresh cut fries on a trip to NYC in 1983, and secured the Canadian rights to the brand. Our first location opened in Scarborough Town Centre in August, 1984, and continued to grow across mall food courts in Canada. A couple of years later, the original location closed, and in 1987, our Canadian founder bought the New York Fries trademarks + brand outright and New York Fries became Canadian!
Does New York Fries have vegetarian options?
Absolutely. Our fresh cut fries are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Many of our meals are also vegetarian including our Classic Poutine, Veggie Fries and Nacho Fries. All of our dips are also vegetarian.

What kind of oil does New York Fries use?
We cook our french fries in non hydrogenated, high oleic sunflower oil
What kind of potatoes does New York Fries use?
New York Fries uses Russet potatoes - often the Burbank variety - and they are delivered to our stores whole. We wash, cut and fry the potatoes in our stores.
Where are your potatoes grown?
Our Russet Burbank potatoes come from a variety of farms. Most of our supply is from New Brunswick, but we also use Idaho potatoes in some provinces. We buy the very best potatoes we can and are often testing new varieties to see how they perform in our system.
What is your most popular menu item?
Our Classic Poutine is our most popular menu item. Followed closely by our plain fries and hot dogs. We have 9 types of poutine listed on our menu, but many customers customize their own!
Is there pork in your hot dogs?
There is no gluten in our hot dog weiner. Our buns do contain gluten, however.
Are your hot dogs halal / kosher?
New York Fries hot dogs are not certified halal or kosher however they do not contain pork. We have lots of vegetarian options on our menu for those who are observing a halal or kosher diet.
Do you offer dairy-free menu items?
Yes. Our fresh cut fries contain no dairy. Our Chipotle Aioli and Truffle Aioli are also free from dairy. For a meal, our Flamin Bacon Fries + Dog are also Dairy free. As is our plain hot dog.
Is your gravy / poutine gluten free?
Our fries are gluten free and our gravy does not contain any gluten in its recipe, but it is made in a facility where gluten is present. Our stores also contain gluten.
Are your truffle fries vegetarian?
Our Truffle Aioli is vegetarian however we use a real parmesan cheese which has an animal enzyme in the rennet, making our Truffle Fries not suitable for vegetarian diets. We are happy to make your Truffle Fries without parmesan cheese if you are looking for a vegetarian option.
Do you offer any promotions, coupons or have a loyalty program?
Fry Society is New York Fries loyalty and rewards program and this is the best way to get free food! We have lots of promotions through this program and special coupons as well. You can sign up for Fry Society - it is free and lives as a card in your digital wallet
Do you give anything for free on birthdays?
Yes! If you are a Fry Society member you will receive a free regular size fries on your birthday if you meet the criteria (must have a lifetime spend on your Fry Society account of $50 pre-tax to qualify. See details here)
